I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at IPH Independence Pet Holdings (Boston, MA) in Nov 2025
Interview
The interview was scheduled for one hour. The first fifteen minutes were spent on company background, and the session ended about twenty minutes early, leaving limited time for a full technical discussion.
I have Asperger’s; it’s not a disability, I just process information visually and iteratively. Interviews should recognize different problem-solving approaches. The evaluation prioritized responses to specific, detailed questions over the ability to design and deliver comprehensive solutions.
When asked about a project I managed end-to-end, I described in detail the database, integration, and reporting work I did for an Ivy League institution in 2004. I was methodical and technical in outlining each step. When asked about Medallion architecture, I explained that I had just described that approach, though it wasn’t called that at the time and I avoid relying on buzzwords.
As a data architect, I build solutions that are scalable, secure, repeatable, and answer real business questions without adding technical debt. I build trust and address skepticism by delivering small wins, such as cleaning up duplicate customer data, which leads to larger successes. My success comes from understanding both business needs and technology limitations, and knowing where documentation may not reflect reality.
