Interview
I applied online via email. HR got back at me about a week later to set up a video interview . I was not told beforehand the names of the people I was interviewing with.
The first interview lasted 1h and was with 2 senior Scientist, I was also able to ask lots of questions and they replied to all.
About a week later HR emails me to set up a second interview, with three other Scientists, and also sent me what they called an "exercise", a document for me to study before the interview.
This second interview was a mess. They had video/audio problems and I could barely hear anything clearly and they couldn't bother to fix them.
They introduced themselves and then one female interviewer laughed while trying to pronounce my last name, which I found inappropriate.
Then the "exercise": the document contained a brunch of graphs from a real fermentation process, of which I was given no context, no background info. They started asking all sort of in depth questions about what was happening at various time points of these graphs. I got a few questions right, but mostly I said "i don't know" and they just remained quiet and just moved on with the next question. Didn't even bother to tell me what the answer was. At this point their video link stopped working and I only had audio, which made the interview much harder for me. The female interviewer became upset that I couldn't answer all her questions the exact way she wanted, so she wrapped up the interview after 1h and never heard from them again.
HR rejected me about a week later telling me they were pursuing other candidates that more closely meet their current needs.
