      Customer Success Interview

      26 Sept 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Austin, TX
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Informatica (Austin, TX)

      Interview

I applied to the role and followed up about 2-3 weeks later, and asked for a status update. HR asked me to interview onsite for my first round(no screening call or phone interview, probably because I was referred). I met the interviewer on site, who didn't realize I had driven a few hours into Austin for this meeting. That leads me to believe the HR coordinator didn't realize this either so at this point, there are a few instances of disorganization and poor internal communication. I go to the office for my interview which was awkward - the interviewer asked a few questions but took a long time asking them in a very mumbled/quiet voice. It was a red flag for me, as I want to be a part of a team where the leadership team is easy to understand, articulate, and is more conversational (this might not be as important to you). I got to the next round after following up with HR again. They needed 2 weeks to pull together who they were interviewing and organizing calls as the interviewer was in California - seems a little long for folks in a competitive market like Austin. I had my interview and it was awful. Keep in mind, this was my 2nd interview for this role, and the interviewer seemed to want to shake up the format. The first thing they asked was 'what questions do you have?' At this point, I don't know if this is a 2nd interview or the last round interview. I was thrown off but asked them what their career journey looked like with INFA. The interviewer then responded to an entirely different question. I thought it must have been my fault for not asking the question clearly enough. But this continued to be the theme throughout our phone call. It was another red flag for me. After that interview, I didn't have much interest in pursuing a role with that team and didn't hear from them for a while. I followed up about 3 times with no response until they finally let me know they had moved on with other candidates. My advice: make sure those leading interviews know how to interview and be more responsive. You're in a highly competitive market in Austin and you will lose great candidates.

Thanks for the feedback and sharing your experience with Informatica. I’m sorry to hear about your experience with our recruiter. During my time as the VP of Talent Acquisition, I have worked hard to create an environment where people feel valued, respected, and are given the best interview process possible. The experience that you had is not acceptable, as I hold all of my recruiters accountable and rely on them to meet the expectations that we set for ourselves as a Talent Acquisition Team. At Informatica, we strive to provide a smooth and one of a kind candidate experience. That being said, thank you for taking the time to provide us with feedback as it helps us make Informatica a better place to work at and best of luck to you. I genuinely care about this company, our team, and about our recruiting process. Should you have any additional questions or concerns, please feel free to email at jbushaw@informatica.com. I’d love share our current process with you. Thanks again, Jeremy Bushaw | VP Talent Acquisition Email: jbushaw@informatica.com
