Pre-screening interview by phone, one hour face-to -face with two managers. I thought they were respectful during the interview, but I am afraid that due to something silly I lost the opportunity. I had been talking to the manager and got off at the wrong floor where she was exiting, instead of remaining on to go to ground level. I was a bit embarrassed and tried to exit on the wrong elevator. I tried to laugh it off, but was exasperated after feeling I gave a strong interview to inadvertently make a poor impression on the way out. I was then ghosted by the recruiter that had arranged the interview. I feel like employees have no empathy or understanding that job interviews are stressful under the best circumstances and that they are looking for reasons to reject you, especially if you are over 40. It is just rude to not reply to a person after they made the effort to travel to your office and sit through an hour of being questioned. If they ghost candidates, then imagine how much regard they have for their employees. I may have dodged a bullet.
