Knowledge of derivatives, vanilla and complex products are essentials as well as knowledge to calculate rates, coupons, alphas and so on. It was friendly interview, although given teh market conditions managers are not looking to develop talent at all but rather to take people that is ready to be put into production, hence knowledge of products and systems are essential this days, unless you have other skills at a very high level that you could trade off. Did not get it at the end because there were other candidates with greater knowledge of the product competing for the Job.
