      Linguistic Game Tester Interview

      6 Aug 2020
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Janus Worldwide in Feb 2020

      Interview

First they sent me an email providing a short video about the job, asked if I would like to proceed, then another email for NDA and an offer of 8 USD/hr. Third email is finally the test (refer to interview questions). They received my submissions and after a week they said my test is a "No Pass" (exact wording), due to company policy they cannot give me feedback or such. I was an in-house game QA and localization specialist but I don't have a clue why I failed. I think the HR guy is neither a native English speaker or native speaker of the target language so maybe even the language level of the manager is questionable. If you are a professional QA don't bother to apply unless you are really desperate.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

NDA, but there are two parts: one is a game with some bugs and text errors. You will need to record some specific steps of your play/test progress, also mark whatever you found. Another part is a series of screenshots of another game, you will need to fill in an issue report. Each part takes around 60 mins.
