I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Joy & Laughter Developmental Therapy (San Jose, CA) in Jan 2026
Interview
The interview process was very straightforward. As a new-graduate entering the work force, it felt as if they were asking me questions more centered towards my personality rather than my knowledge in the area. I did have a pediatric rotation prior to applying for the job, which may have assisted with the interview process. On the second, in-person interview, I met with the manager to learn more about the location, then met with HR. When meeting with HR, they verbally informed me of the salary I would be receiving. An offer was provided to me 5 minutes after the interview was over

Why do you want to work with pediatric populations and not other populations?
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Joy & Laughter Developmental Therapy (San Jose, CA) in Aug 2022
Interview
It was a stress free experience that felt more like a conversation than a comprehensive exam. They seem to really want to know about you and your experiences. The work culture seems lovely.

Question 1
Describe your most difficult client and what made them difficult
I applied online. I interviewed at Joy & Laughter Developmental Therapy in Dec 2021
Interview
The WORST experience I have had with a jobs prescreening text. It takes about an hour and includes the most obscure, most personal questions I have been asked by a potential employer. After 200 questions along the lines of "would you kill an animal to put it out of its misery" theres another 80 questions to be answered within 30 minutes that are so mathematically and sensibly outlandish I am not even considering this as feasible employment any longer. I feel almost violated after all that.

Question 1
Could I kill an animal in pain?
Do I believe the sole right to fortune lay in the first-born child?
Can I imitate someone's dialect well?
Hello applicant,
Thank you for your feedback. We use a 3rd party employment testing company as part of our interview process so we don't have control over the questions that are included. The testing does include an IQ component which is timed. Many candidates are not able to complete all the questions in the time given, we just ask applicants to try their best on the questions they are able to complete in the time given.
We use testing as one of the screening measures in our interview process along with a traditional verbal interview with questions related to past employment experiences, and knowledge on the position the candidate is applying for.
