      Technical Analyst Interview

      7 Jun 2017
      Anonymous employee
      Edinburgh, Scotland
      Accepted offer
      Neutral experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Jumpstart (UK) (Edinburgh, Scotland)

      Interview

Very unusual, mainly questions about analysing blocks of text and summarising them. Informal approach, quite friendly. Brief technical chat, following career to date, followed by description of company and what it was about, and then a short tour. Overall impression was of a company that didn't really have a set process for interviews, and I was quite surprised that this was all they really expected, given the fairly decent salary on offer. Apparently a lot of candidates struggled with the literacy-focus of the interview process, which makes sense as a lot of the job involves writing reports on behalf of clients.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Not really a question-based interview at all - they present you with a document of a few hundred words and ask you to condense it down into a shorter version without losing the meaning or the impact.
