I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Languages in Motion (Calgary, AB) in Oct 2024
Interview
The process starts with submitting an application through the company’s official website, which includes a few thoughtful questions. Some of them focus on how your values align with the company’s values, so it’s helpful to review them in advance and reflect on what resonates with you.
After that, I received a phone call with a few initial screening questions, and an online interview was scheduled.
The online interview included two members of the leadership team. They asked standard questions about my previous experience, background, and general fit.
Following that, they took some time to complete interviews with other candidates. In my case, I was contacted about a week and a half later and invited for an in-person interview at the office.
During the in-person interview, I met the full team. Each team member had prepared a few questions, which made the conversation engaging and dynamic. The interview lasted about an hour and included a mix of professional and more creative or personal questions, such as discussing favorite movies or perspectives.
I received an offer the next day.
I applied through other source. I interviewed at Languages in Motion
Interview
POTENTIAL SCAM! I am a member of Angel.co, essentially a startup recruiting site for dev talent. Although LIM has an account on that site, they broke protocol and emailed me directly before connecting with my on the site - like every other, of dozens, company has done in the past with me. I thought this was odd, but the company seemed cool and I allowed it. They requested an interview to be done by Google Hangouts, that Thursday (it was Tuesday). 1 hr before the interview, they reschedule to Friday. 1 hr before that interview, they reschedule by pushing it back 2 hrs. Then, within an hour of that interview they push it back to Monday at 10:30. Monday rolls around, and again, they push it back to Tuesday. Each time they do this, it is without any email reaching out apologizing or saying sorry, this is the reason we needed to reschedule - none of that. I tell them I am on vacation and cannot make Tuesday, so after some back and forth it goes to Thursday when I return from Vacation. 1 hr before the interview, again like clockwork, they push it to Friday. I finally emailed them, venting my frustration for them disrespecting the value of my time and demanding they stick to the agreed timeslot. They responded by saying they were experiencing technical difficulties. BS! All it takes is a computer, Gmail account and Internet connection. No legit business would have an issue making that happen. I believe this company to be some kind of phishing scam or something like it. They requested my resume yesterday in prep for our interview today, they may have just been stringing me along trying to get me to give up more personal information. PROCEED WITH CAUTION!
