I had a brief telephone interview with one of the directors of the company on the 8th of July. The interview was very relaxed, he just wants to get to know about you as a person and ask a few easy questions regarding your education, job history and briefly discuss the role. After that, I got invited for a face-to-face interview the next week.
The face-to-face interview is conducted in order to know more about your personality and check if you would fit in the company and would be comfortable in the role. So there are no questions regarding skills or education. There are really no right or wrong answers if you are truly interested in the position. After that, I was asked to do a trial for a couple of days for them to reach a final decision and check how I worked and adapted to the role.
And here came the problem. A couple of days after my trial period I was called and asked to do six-week unpaid work because, in two days they said, they cannot really know how I work and if I fit in the company, etc, etc. Taking into account how little they pay for how much you are expected to work, the fact that the company is full of unpaid and hardworking interns, that they seem to want to save every single penny in terms of salaries and costs (they don't pay your accommodation during a business trip) and that they changed their mind every two seconds, I believe that what they want is a slave that works for free for a month before being paid a very low salary, rather than a Sales & Marketing Executive. Also, they said they would cover the transport expenses for those days I was requested to attend to the induction days and I am still waiting to get my money back.
I decided not to accept the request and withdraw my application. They claim they are a family but that's not the vibe I got judging the way I was treated throughout the process. I wondered how it was going to be in case I got the job if they were being like that before I even joined the company.
