I was referred by a current employee. I emailed my resume and was told to come in to meet the owner. Instead of being hired directly I was sent to a labor temp agency. This was done so I could be paid less and be easily dismissed if they didn't like me. Not being hired directly meant the labor company took a percentage of my wages. Basically, the interview process became a 3 month trial period. Once hired there was still a 90 day probation period.
