Received an email from recruiter asking to discuss my application. Spoke with an individual who clearly is an outsourced worker who did not have a mastery of the English language or familiarity with American geography. The job posting said REMOTE but you must be within a commutable distance to a MetLife office. Okay, I don’t know where those are (how could I, I don’t work for MetLife) so I applied anyways. I figured they wouldn’t contact me for an interview if my location was a problem. Color me wildly confused when the recruiter asks *me* if my location (a western state) is within a one hour commute of one of their offices. I’m not sure, you tell me. Turns out, I’m disqualified because of location. Why did you ask for an interview then? Why didn’t you clarify location in an email first? Why are you outsourcing your recruiting department? Why don’t you list these clearly oh so important office locations in the job posting?!! It’s not actually remote then, is it….? Infuriating and I thank you MetLife for wasting my time.
