We would first like to thank this individual for taking the time to post feedback on their application for a contract role with our company.
We'd like to clarify that the vacancy was indeed legitimate and we have successfully secured a Java contractor from this hiring initiative.
We purposely set a high bar in order to ensure we get the right talent joining our team, whether that be on a contract or full-time basis.
The coding challenges we set are, rightly in our view, relevant to real-life scenarios that we've already solved as it is key to understand how a prospective candidate approaches real world technical challenges and what coding standards they adhere to, if any.
It is the right of any candidate issued one of our coding challenges to either attempt to complete it, or decline it (as this particular candidate did).
When we were alerted to this negative feedback being post, we attempted to contact this candidate out of common courtesy to discuss the opportunity in more detail and allay any misgivings they may have had, but for reasons unknown they refused to engage in conversation with us.
We wish this individual all the best in the pursuit of their next opportunity, and hope they find that job for them which is the right match for their skills and experience.
For the record, the following day we offered the role to another contractor who completed the coding challenge to a high standard. That contractor is now engaged on an initial 3 month contract with us and is doing an excellent job!
