Interview
Process took 4 weeks from date of application. Applied online after seeing job post in a LinkedIn Group for non-clinical Vet Med careers, and received email from CEO 2 weeks later. From there, scheduled a 15 minute screening call over Google, and was told I would be moving to the next round, also over Google. The person I was scheduled to meet with had "Product Consultant" listed in their email signature, and "Account Executive" listed on the Nectarvet website and on LinkedIn. I assumed I would first be speaking with someone in the same role as me, which made me feel relaxed going into the interview. The person was several minutes late to the interview. They started by asked me some general questions about my current role, why I was leaving and why I applied to their company. They then asked if I had any questions, of which I had a few. After roughly 30 minutes, I was told they did not have enough time on their schedule to complete the rest of my interview, and asked if I was available later in the day. It had seemed like the interview was winding down, but I agreed to set aside another hour later in the day. The second half of the interview consisted of 5-6 math riddles and some standard interview questions like who is someone you admire, what is your biggest weakness, etc. Finally, I was given a 5 minute demo of their software and after seeing the AI feature work they asked me how I would sell their product on LinkedIn. The company is recruiting former veterinary staff/veterinary sales professionals and asking questions designed for engineers. I sent a follow-up thank you to the person who interviewed me but was ghosted.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at NectarVet (Florida, NY) in Dec 2024
Interview
I had an initial screening over zoom just to talk about the role and my experience with the CX manager. I was told they were building out a team as there is only a CX manager providing all the support at the moment.
A couple of days later I was invited to a second zoom interview where I had to do a live written test directly after navigating through a demo of their software. I was promised a follow up to let me know if I would be progressing to next steps or not.... but they never reached out and fully ghosted me instead. I found this to be deeply unprofessional as I provided two hours of my time and completed a live written test as well- at the very least send a rejection email. To be honest I don't think this company is stable at all so I may have dodged a bullet as they have hardly any clinics signed up to their service. I don't see how they could even afford to hire a new team with hardly any customers. If hiring needs perhaps changed they should have updated their candidates to not waste anyones time.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Pretty standard questions about the role and how to handle customer situations.
Extremely confrontational and condescending. Interviewed directly with the CEO and was told almost immediately I didn't have the experience managing people (which I do, they just didn't ask) they wanted (but didn't put in the job description). Was told that 10 minutes in and then pumped for information about my former employer in the vet industry for the next 10 minutes.
Wouldn't have taken the job, and should've hung up. CEO is a instantly readable narcissist and a quick google of their name will reveal a former CTO's blog post outlining the awful experience of working with them.
