I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Nordstrom (Mission Viejo, CA) in Apr 2013
Interview
Apply online, then you do a phone interview. If they like you there then they call you into the store for an interview with HR. If the HR person thinks you're a good fit for the company they'll set you up with an interview with the department manager.
Interview with department head can be that same day or a different day. So don't be surprised if they ask you to do back to back interviews.
I applied for BP and interviewed wth BP department manager. She called back and offered me a position in TBD instead. I LOVED TBD. Happy I got moved there.

Pretend you're helping your customer and then all of a sudden a co-worker starts helping them and ringing them up under their name (aka they get the commission). What would you do?
Short, fun to pick out an outfit/ explore the floor. Fun environment. Don’t really remember since it was years ago. Had a good BP selection. Music was always the same/ repetitive
I received a phone call from HR and had a brief chat then was invited to come in for an in person interview. a couple days later I came in to answer like 5 easy no brainer questions provided by the dept. manager. there was a sales simulation where the dept manager asked me to dress her for a wedding. I picked clothes keeping in mind, the season we were currently in, colors that would compliment her, and body shape... also said flattering things

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Nordstrom (Seattle, WA) in Mar 2014
Interview
The process started out by me applying online. A few weeks later, I received an e-mail requesting to schedule a phone interview. The phone interview was pretty easy going, the interviewer was very nice and stuck to typical questions about experience and why I would want to work for Nordstrom. At the end of this interview, they offered me the opportunity to interview with a manager at the store in my area. I received an e-mail with steps to schedule the in-person interview. It took place the following week. The interview started out with typical interview questions regarding experience and situations I may or may not have experienced in my past jobs. Next, we went to the sales floor and I did some role playing activities with the interviewer. I was called and offered a job a few days later.
