Very good phone interview with Director of engineering. In person interview was mixed. First group was great and cared about my experience. Next group thought vague questions about mechanical engineering was some how a good test for a laser engineer. It was a little frustrating being asked questions like "what are some voltages that exist" and "how could I use a motor to move this phone across the table" I felt like they failed to understand anything about my background. The worst part was when the CTO came in a said "requirements" the entire purpose I was brought in... should never be a job and spent 20 minutes lecturing me on how he hates requirements. By the end I was running for the door. Clearly chaos is winning and this group has a long road ahead.
Feed back after interview was that I didnt know enough about mechanical engineering... I believe my education and resume clearly stated those facts as I'm not a mechanical engineer.
Tip if you have a interview. Dont focus on application of any technology or research dna sequencing. They care about blocks on surfaces and step motors.
Took a job with higher pay and better benefits and a more capable interview team.
