I gave a brief overview of my background, including my studies, previous customer service experience, and why I was interested in the role. I also mentioned that I enjoy working with people, helping customers find solutions, and being part of a team environment. I tried to keep the answer confident and conversational while showing that I was reliable, approachable, and willing to learn.
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Optus (Sydney) in Feb 2026

I applied online. I interviewed at Optus in Jan 2026
Interview
When I was preparing for my interview, I found other people’s shared interview questions extremely helpful.
Because of that, I would like to give back and share my full set of HireVue interview questions with Optus to help others prepare.
I completed an online HireVue interview with 5 questions. However, I haven’t heard back from them after two weeks.
Even so, I hope this will be useful for anyone who is preparing for the same process.
In the interview, Optus suggested us to use STAR method.
The 5 questions were:
1. Introduce yourself. Why Optus?
2. Describe a time when you turned a dissatisfied customer into a satisfied one.
3. Describe a time when you stepped out of your comfort zone at work.
4. Describe a time when you followed a rule or regulation.
5. Describe a time when you dealt with a challenging colleague or customer.
