      Graphics Programmer Interview

      28 Jun 2025
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Oxide Interactive in Jun 2025

      Interview

HR screening, then technical interview with the lead graphics programmer and CEO. The graphics lead seemed disinterested from the start, rubbing his head, looking down, and asking questions that suggested he hadn't read my resume. He was kind of roasting my resume, criticizing the lack of project links even though they were hyperlinks and questioning why I had no coursework listed. He handed off questioning to the CEO halfway through, though it sounded like he was trying to wrap it up and had already made a decision. When the CEO went through my resume, the graphics lead seemed surprised by one of my projects, confirming he hadn't read it beforehand (the title of the project was a dead giveaway as to what it was). He asked follow-up questions about that project once it caught his attention, but wouldn't have if the CEO hadn't been there to bring it up. Side note: Felt like multithreading knowledge would have benefited me greatly in the interview. They have a video called "How to get a job in graphics programming" where the lead says they only hire people with master's degrees and haven't hired anyone with only a BS in the past 10 years for this specific role. In the same video, he says they don't care about Unity/Unreal projects, which was verified because both of them skipped over my Unity project.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Project Specific questions, What math classes have you taken? Have you done VR projects? What light model do you use? Shadow filtering? Have you done multi threading? Do you know what false sharing is?
