      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Paycom (Oklahoma City, OK) in Jan 2018

      Interview

The interview process is drawn out and extremely thorough. My recruiter was excellent with communication throughout every step of the way. Every employee I made contact with was professional and appeared to be interested in what I had to say. SCREEN - A recruiter will call you to make sure your phone and conversational skills are present. This includes a lot of questions they will later ask you in your in-person interview, "Why Paycom?, How are your skills applicable to this job?". I initially applied for five different positions, so our conversation was focused more on my employment history and skills. After about one week of going back and forth, my recruiter finally decided upon the coordinator position. PRE-INTERVIEW TEST - My recruiter sent me a few tests to complete before my in-person interview. This included a Microsoft Excel web-based test which determines which level of skill you have within the program. For the most part, this test is pretty simple, but there are a few curveballs. There is a logic/IQ test you will have to take, which determines problem solving and connecting relationship skills. However, this is a practice test and you will have to complete another near-identical test right before your in-person interview. There is also a typing test which determines your WPM for typing words and rows of numbers. Overall, these tests were quite simple. INTERVIEW I - Before your interview you will have to take another computer-based test, then you will meet with your recruiter who will lead you into your conference room. I met with someone that worked in the department I was applying for. She combed through my resume and asked me questions like, "What was your role?, What were your daily tasks?, What is a time you failed?" for every one of employers listed. For the most part, this interview is incredibly basic in terms of the information they are looking for. However, the interview lasted a little over half an hour and was pretty much nonstop back and forth questions. INTERVIEW II - The second interview was a day after my first one and was nearly identical. This time I met with a supervisor in the department and was asked almost all of the same questions as the previous day. She was more thorough than my previous interviewer and had filled up a blank sheet of paper with her notes. They make it clear that after this interview, your recruiter will contact you within a day or two to extend a job offer or not. OFFER - I was offered the job the following business day. I gladly accepted and proceeded with the last leg of the interview. They run a credit history check, driving history check and 5-panel drug screening. If they find anything questionable, they will ask that you provide an official reason and any paperwork. This entire process took a week. FINAL OFFER - After a week of them verifying you're legit and you will be given a call from someone in the HR department giving you their congratulations. The final step is the orientation paperwork and you're in!

      Interview

I really enjoyed speaking with Kandace, Sara, and Levi! They are very wholesome, kind, energetic, and passionate about what they do. Although I have been applying to paycom (many different positions) over the past 5 years, I never gave up! Interview process: 1. Complete multiple applications (better chances) 2. a phone interview 3. In person interview (single panel = 2members: team leader and hiring manager) 4. 24-48hrs you will get an update 5. On boarding paperwork and screenings I cannot wait to begin this new journey with such an amazing work-family! I say family because, let's face it, we spend just as much time at work as we do at home and you WANT to love what you do and who you work with. ☺

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Some of the questions asked were in the nature of "give me an example of a time when..." You REALLY want to use the STAR interview method when answering these types of questions. That helped me out soooo much! If you're like me, I have always been terrible at being interviewed, but am such a dependable and hardworking person; so I recommend studying the STAR method. It just really puts everything into perspective and gives that extra detail they're searching for. I hope this helps you too!
