I applied in-person. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at PolyUnity (St. John's, NL) in May 2025
Interview
The interview process included three well-defined stages: an initial screening, a technical assessment, and a final discussion. Each stage was structured and communicated clearly, which I appreciated. However, after successfully completing all three rounds, I experienced a noticeable lack of transparency and consistency. Despite dedicating significant time and effort, there was minimal follow-up and no meaningful feedback. As a senior-level candidate, I expected a higher level of professionalism and respect for the time invested in the process.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Mostly, they ask about novice-level TypeScript questions, such as the difference between 'any' and 'unknown'.
There was an initial pre-screen interview with a People & Culture representative, and a secondary interview in-person with three interviewers. I made it to the secondary interview but not the third round (where I would have met some more of the team, from what I was told). Interviewers were all friendly and professional.
Overall I got an extremely positive impression of the company. The interview process and topic of compensation were both handled with an exceptionally high level of transparency that I really appreciated. The salary range for the position was communicated directly, as were the specific expectations for the role. I was even told certain questions to expect for my second interview which took much of the anxiety out of the preparation process.
I normally wouldn’t leave a review for something like a job interview, but this was an exceptional experience. It was definitely the most streamlined and transparent hiring process I’ve been through personally.
