I applied online. I interviewed at Prime Quadrant in Feb 2025
Interview
I applied online and went through the following interview steps:
- A 15-minute video call with the CIO
- A 30-minute video call with the Director of IT
A few days later, I was sent a coding assessment that involved building a function to update a Tic Tac Toe board based on user input. After submitting my solution, I never received any further communication, despite following up multiple times.
Unfortunately, this was a disappointing experience, as it reflects a lack of professionalism in their hiring process. Providing a simple yes or no response takes minimal effort and would show respect for the time and effort candidates invest in the process.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Write a function (in any programming language or pseudocode) that:
Takes the current board state and the next player's move as input.
Updates the board and checks if the move results in a win.
Returns the updated board and the game status ("X wins", "O wins", "Draw", or "Game continues").
Thank you for sharing your experience. I’m sorry we didn’t follow up after your assessment. That’s not how we normally operate, and I take responsibility for the miss.
Your application was reviewed during a busy period, and it looks like the follow-up slipped through the cracks. I understand how frustrating that can be after investing your time and effort. We’ve since tightened how we track candidate communication to prevent this from happening again.
I appreciate you giving us the opportunity to correct it and do better for others moving forward.
Cheers,
Roy Bernhard
