Interview
Saw an advertisement on Reed, saying no experience is required, full training provided. As a fresh graduate, this seem like a perfect chance to excel within the marketing industry.
Got called a few days later, saying congratulations, you have been selected and shortlist for an 'initial meeting with the manager.
I turn up for this 'initial meeting', it was a very friendly atmosphere. However this was when i noticed something wrong. The so called manager was in fact the director, throughout this short 'ten minutes' interview.
The main discussion was about earnings and progression to become a director in 18 months. Again warning bells were already ringing. I did a brief research before this initial interview, and found that they were in the 'events based marketing'. In other words, door-to-door sales. Not only are you not on a contract, you are in fact self employed and your salary is commission based only.
Merely two hours after the interview, I got a phone call back to say i have been selected for the 'observation day'. Came home and googled 'Entry-level marketing pyramid scam', and this company checks all the boxes.
"The graduate scheme, the outrageous salary and the fast-track management course never materialise. The job, in reality, is door-to-door pressure selling often targeting vulnerable people. Working long hours outside, there is no salary instead workers are being paid commission on each sale they make." (Epigram, 2018)
FRESH GRADUATES WATCH OUT!!! HUGE RED FLAGS.

Interview
Simple and straightforward, the director asks you to come in to see what your personality is like and if you are fit for the role he will call you to say you have been given the job.
