      Software Engineer In Test Interview

      25 Apr 2016
      Anonymous interview candidate
      San Francisco, CA
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Rally Health (San Francisco, CA) in Apr 2016

      Interview

I had HR call and then technical phone screen and got invitation for onsite. I met 7 members onsite during almost 5 hours including lunch. First interview with 2 engineers from Washington DC office. They asked me a lot of questions related to Java, OOPs, Selenium, Automation framework, version control. It went really well and I had pleasant experience talking to them. 2nd round with System Engineer & QA Manager from Chicago office, They didn’t smile or asked me how I am doing within 1 hour and I felt little uncomfortable talking to them. 3rd round was with 2 developers, they asked me about API testing, data related questions and last round with QA Manager. In general I felt that they keep asking me so many questions like ‘Do you know this? Did you work on this?’ if you haven’t worked on technology, language they are using, they will not consider you no matter what you are capable of. It would have been nicer experience if they would have asked me to write code or solve problem. HR told me that they will get back with feedback in 2 week as they are interviewing other people, its been 2 week already but I did not hear anything yet

      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Rally Health (Washington, DC) in Apr 2014

      Interview

My process was through a recruiter that handled all communication with the company. The process consisted of a phone interview and an in person interview. The phone interview was of a technical nature. Besides the technical parts, it was also a general conversion about perspectives on programming and software development. The in-person interview had four parts and lasted around 3 hours. First round was brief with an HR person, second round was with co- developers, third round was with lead developers and fourth round was with managers. All rounds, except the first had a big technical part requiring to write code to solve a particular programming problem in code on a piece of paper. The difficulty of the tasks is a very subjective matter. I found them all fairly straightforward, but all required thinking.
