      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Revolut (London, England) in May 2023

      Interview

First Stage: Recruiter interview. Feels like the interviewer was looking mainly for buzz words related to the role rather than any in-depth knowledge. Told at the end of the interview that I would be moving to the next round which would be an online challenge. Second Stage: Online Challenge, 40 questions in 20mins. Logic / Percentages / Pattern recognition etc. CCAT practice questions sent by the recruiter in advance. 80% to pass to next interview. Fairly easy but need to move quick through the questions. Third Stage: "Live Challenge" interview to test domain knowledge/expertise. Recruiter scheduled a call in advance to provide an overview of what the interview would be like. You will be presented with a hypothetical issue or a situation Revolut faced before and you will be asked some questions that are meant to test your domain expertise by asking you to be hands-on on a task similar to what this role at Revolut would do daily. The task I was asked in the interview was related to a scenario where Revolut are launching a "Social Trading / Leaderboard" product. I was asked could I identify the risks associated with this product, the risk mitigations I would put in place for these risks, and the process I would conduct if one of the mitigations failed (e.g. Launch a RCA etc.). Interviewer was fairly engaged and told me as the interview progressed that my answers were good / it was what they were looking for which was good. Got feedback then from the recruiter that evening that I would be moving to the next round. Fourth Stage: "Problem Solving" interview. Again, Recruiter scheduled a call in advance to provide an overview of what the interview would be like. You will be given a specific business problem and they would like to see how you approach it. The recruiter advised that I review content from Bain / McKinsey style Consultancy Case interviews, and that the problem could be Revolut or Non-Revolut specific. There is very little information online specific to this stage of the interview process, so YouTube is probably you're best bet if you've never done an interview like this before. Again, the interviewer was friendly which put me at ease. The case I was given; "COO has just joined from a competitor, and is reviewing all of Revolut's products, as well as a typical customer journey & utilization of products. One product that caught her eye was Cross Border Payments. How would you improve the utilisation of this product?". As per the Bain / McKinsey case studies, you then need to ask the interviewer specific questions to get more information from them to inform you're answer. Questions I asked included who are the target customers of the product, what is the utilization rate today, why does she want to improve it, what pain points exist about the product. Was able to get plenty of data from the interviewer based on these questions, spoke through my thought process as to why I was asking these questions etc. You then have to come up with recommendations based on this data. This final part let me down & this was as far as I got. Interviewer contacted me the next day to say I would not be moving forward. Overall, the experience was relatively positive. Recruiter and interviewers were pleasant to speak with. These 4 stages took a month in total, from scheduling the first interview to finding I would not be moving forward with my application. There are also a further 2 stages after this, "Team Fit" and "Culture" interview, so it is quite a long process. Hope this helps future applicants.

      Interview
