I had a face-to-face interview with the owner and the commercial director of the company at their head office, for the role of Import Merchandiser/Buyer. They were friendly and it felt like a casual chat but it lasted for an hour as they kept talking to each other and going off topic. I felt that it went well as I answered all their many questions however there were a couple of red flags. The owner mentioned that he had previously made many of his staff members redundant a few years before and now he was rehiring a new team to replace them. He spoke about his employees quite poorly (things like they didn't notice a sample had arrived & that was unacceptable etc.) and it didn't make me want to work for him. He also asked me a huge numbers of questions about my current workplace, more than I would consider appropriate for a job interview. It seemed like he was more interested in digging for info on the company I worked for than hearing about my actual experience. I was told I'd hear back the next week about whether I had been successful or not but they didn't contact me which I feel is very unprofessional. I then reached out the week after, assuming I hadn't got the job and asked for some feedback. I was told that they thought my CV was excellent but they wanted to go more in the direction of product development... why not advertise the job as Product Developer then? The whole experience was a complete waste of my time but after reading the reviews on here I'd say I dodged a bullet!
