      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at SafetyWing

      Interview

BEWARE!!! Initial communication was good. First interview was short and was just a culture check. Then communication waned. Second interview seemed odd as it became evident that they were not clear about what they want. There were a few discrepancies to the first interview about what the function of the role is. One of the interviewers seemed quite annoyed most of the time. Only after following up a few times the next interview was scheduled. The third interview was with the CEO who seemed quite disengaged. With pre written non-questions like: what is the most influential book you have read. I was the one who had to bring life and energy and steer away from the questions to a discussion about the role. Either-way he became interested when I presented my ideas for what I would do in the position. All interviews were short and rushed and left me with little insight into what they would offer. And now here the biggest issue: After a month of not hearing back from them I find watered-down versions my ideas popping up on their social media channels. To this day I have not heard back. They seemed to be doing these interviews to just get ideas or use it as a growth tactic. It’s a shame. They seem good on the outside but clearly there is something amiss.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at SafetyWing in Aug 2022

      Interview

Run. Don't waste your time. They'll waste yours. Took three months and six interviews for them to tell me the leadership team felt I wasn't comfortable enough with ambiguity to hold the position. To be clear: I had three separate interviews with each of the co-founders (3 in total). Not one arrived on time, two were late by over 10 minutes for a 25-minute interview, and one rescheduled with less than 15 minutes notice. Not once did I complain. I cheerfully moved other appointments and commitments around to accommodate them, at the last minute. I was told throughout the process I was moving forward, and if I had other offers on the table, to let them know, so they could move the process faster. I did. The hiring manager told me I'd hear back in 2 days with next steps - 16 days ago. In our first interview, the hiring manager asked me for feedback to edit the job description, to ensure it met the criteria of the role. Read that again. My input in the first job interview for the role, helped change the job posting description. I was told by multiple interviewers to stay in touch on a weekly basis, or it would be held as a strike against me. Bluntness was valued, as was open and frequent communication. I received two replies in the three months of the interview process, but was assured this was normal, and to keep pressing on. I was also thanked profusely for keeping in touch, and letting everyone know I had other offers on the table. Oh, and let's not forget my first two interviews, scheduled for 25-minutes, lasted for over 90-minutes. But no, I guess the leadership team, after having met with me for less than an hour in total, over three separate interviews, deeply understands my capacity to withstand ambiguity. I hope no one ever has to go through what I went through with SafetyWing.
