I interviewed at Secret Escapes
The interview process consisted of a virtual interview with two members of the team followed by a three part project/ presentation with 3 team members. Very similar to interviews for similar roles elsewhere
- A lot of situation questions or asking for how I’ve handled complex projects in the past.

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Secret Escapes (London, England) in Oct 2023
I was put forward for this position by a recruitment agency. The organisation then took 3 weeks to schedule my first interview. This interview was with the Recruitment Team Manager, who basically spoke at me for 45 minutes. The position sounded like a great match for my skills and experience, therefore I was perplexed (as was my recruiter) as to why I didn't receive an invitation for a second interview. This was compounded by the questionable feedback I received, which had nothing to do with my skills or the questions I had answered during the interview - the feedback I was given was that the manager thought I would be "potentially too quiet and polite" for the position. This makes me wonder if they expected me to butt in and interrupt during the interview to speak - if so, then I highly question this interview style.

There were many stages, with different team members. There was an excel and analysis questions with live demo. It was not too bad, but would encourage to think outside the box . When answering competency based questions, bring personal and recent examples.

After the second interview where I presented a prepared task and presentation, I recieved no feedback about the presentation, nor if I had the job or not. I had to chase them up after 2 weeks. Very unprofessional to behave like this after a final stage interview.

Did two interviews with the team at secret escapes, which was a quick process. I then didn’t hear back for over two weeks.I received an email asking to schedule another call. However, when I responded with my availability, I got no reply along with no reply to my follow-up email.
- Basic competency based questions were asked

Offer retracted once I had accepted as role wasn't business critical. First interview was a 30 minute chat. Second interview was 75 minutes where once they had sent me plenty of data, I highlighted trends, and presented my insights, explanations, and recommendations. When the offer was made there was key information missing such has holiday entitlement, what destinations I would manage, how the bonus is awarded, and pension contribution. Secret Escapes were some £20-25k below the market rate for someone with my expertise and experience. Maybe low pay across the business leads to poor decision making, and explains the unprofessionalism Secret Escapes have shown. When reviewing the salary, you offered I swallowed my pride, and tried to look at the bigger picture. It wasn’t just about the money I can earn now, but also about me finding the right platform to work my way to the very top of an organisation. Shortly before accepting your offer, I had turned down a role paying more money. After our call yesterday I got back in touch with this company, only to discover this position has now been filled. You’ve not just wasted my time, but I’ve now lost out on two opportunities, and remain unemployed, at a time when everything is increasing in cost. My wage had already been budget for by senior managers and your finance department. Given the progress made and the fact I had accepted your offer, I firmly believe it is an injustice upon me that you haven’t honoured the offer you made to me. It’s very entitled of Secret Escapes to think they can mess people around like this. I can only assume the way you have treated me is an indication as to how poorly you treat your staff. It’s frustrating and financially costly to me now, but in time I’m sure I will look back on this encounter and consider it a lucky escape, from secret escapes. Can I suggest you immediately take those non-critical roles off LinkedIn, before you waste anyone else’s time. Unless of course this is just common practise for SE.

Had an initial 30 min interview with the head of the Analyst team, who was friendly and easy to talk to. Felt more like a conversation where I was walked through the structure of the team. Didn't hear back until two weeks later when they emailed to say "the role had gone on hold for the foreseeable future", but that they'd "love to continue the process with me" if it arose again. I replied asking for specific feedback on my application and interview and got no response.
