Skellam AI Data Science Engineer interview questions

Applied online, was made to review an expository paper based on gibbs sampling and then went onto a tech round consisting of the following two questions. Just know the answers to these two questions and you should be fine. The reason why I am marking this interview difficulty as average in spite of these easy questions was because after being able to solve them I was told "you don't think like a programmer". I first thought was maybe I was expected to not use built-in functions? but then again is that what a programmer is supposed to do. Well, its your problem to figure out now, dear future candidate.
