First HR chat, then talking about an ML project I worked on in the past , discussing trade-offs and answering in-depth questions, then ML system design interview driven by the candidate
I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Skyscanner (London, England) in Jun 2025
Interview
The first round was a live whiteboard coding challenge in Python. The second round was a call with the hiring manager about the role, my previous experience, and some statistics / experimentation questions.
I got rejected after the 2nd round as my profile was not the best match for role and what they were looking for. A strong plus point for me was that I got very detailed feedback from the interview.

Question 1
How would you explain to a non-technical stakeholder what a p-value is?
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Skyscanner (London, England) in Jun 2024
Interview
I had a first-round interview with the recruiting team and a second-round interview with the hiring manager. The hiring manager focused on my specific skills and past experience in data science and machine learning. They are looking for someone with specialized skills to conduct ML experiments. The stakeholders are primarily other data scientists, and the goal is to provide a smooth and efficient experience for them to conduct various experiments.
What impressed me the MOST is that, Skyscanner takes interviewers like us really seriously. They rejected me eventually but they also scheduled a 30 mins to talk with me on specific reasons why they have rejected me and what points they appreciated me as a candidate. I truly appreciate this since most companies won't do this but just sending an automated template for rejection.
