I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Southwest Airlines in May 2010
Interview
Southwest selected me for an interview based on a resume I posted on their website. They do accept cover letters. I spoke with an HR recruiter who called in order to schedule a phone interview. The interview was fairly straight forward and informative about the hiring position. A sticking point was the salary range for the position they were looking to fill. I expressed that the the top of the pay range was below my minimum.

Interview
After a very long wait from the initial application (October to February), I had a phone interview before a final round phone interview (normally they fly candidates in but I couldn't)

Interview
Phone interview followed by on site interview. Very chill experience. They do real job and focus more on details. Basically going through resume and pick there interesting points. Just be ready to show them who you really are and they will hire you if you are good candidate. Three person on site interview, one hiring manager and two department manager. Usually takes about 40 minutes. Good environment
