I was contacted through linkedin via HR. I did a phone screening with a scientist that lasted about 20 minutes. Mainly he told me about the company's products and what projects he's working on. He then asked about my experience. Ten minutes after our conversation was over HR contacted me and invited me for an onsite interview.
The location of the company is great, however, immediately walking in the lobby I just didn't get good vibes. There was a lack of professionalism for the bigger company that it was. The scientist greeted me and moved me to a meeting room. He handed me a paper that showed who I would be meeting with. This is where I noticed the job title was "temporary" which they failed to inform me beforehand. After that, I wasn't really interested in being there anymore. The questions were pretty straightforward about NGS and library prep. The head scientist asked lots of technical questions, I forgot how I did one of them. There was a lot of waiting and down time between meeting each person. After the interview they showed me around lab. Nothing looked organized. I also noticed that 80% of people I saw that day were asian, so the company lacked diversity. I never heard back as to how my interview went, and I don't really care about it either. I don't recommend working here if you want to be happy!
