I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Stellar Development Foundation (San Francisco, CA) in Jul 2024
Interview
A really thorough and engaging interview process with truly stellar engineers and managers. It consisted of a phone screen, two coding assessments and system design and behavioral questions.
Stellar provides feedback during the interview process and folks there are super smart and mature.
Definitely one of the best places I've had the privilege of interviewing at.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
I received a coding challenge related to problems the team solves on a daily basis.
Pretty standard interview process consisting of screening, architecture / system design and behavioral. Handled well for the most part, albeit with some red flags in between rounds (nothing crazy though). Then towards the very very end, the tone really changed to become much more adversarial and it became apparent the team was looking for a way to NOT move forward despite what seemed like a good outcome so far. Totally ok in terms of their final decision being negative; definitely not ok to interview like that, though.
Would not recommend.

Question 1
Project X (real-life not theoretical) is a disaster for reasons A, B, C (some vaguely technical, most obviously the result of mismanagement + bad hiring). Can you tell me how you would fix everything about it now, in detail?
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Stellar Development Foundation in Nov 2021
Interview
Was reached out to by one of the recruiters who then connected me to the hiring manager. 1hr phone screen by recruiting manager. Was told there would be 4 rounds, one of which was initial phone screen. Second round was 1 hr coding challenge with 3 questions.
