I had the following interviews (yes, it is way too many):
- HR Screen, 30 mins [virtual]
- Hiring manager interview, 30 mins [virtual]
- Head of Schooling interview, 30 mins [virtual]
- Peer interview - 30 mins [in-person]
- Senior manager interview - 45 mins [in-person panel]
- Adjacent team senior manager interview - 30 mins [in-person panel]
- Hiring manager and head of schooling interview, again - 30 mins [in-person panel]
I read the Glassdoor review for SA just before I went into the office for the final set of four (!) interviews, so I was already not into the opportunity. However, I really wanted to get a job even if it wasn't a good job, so I thought I'd give it a try. Meeting everyone in person got me feeling better about the job, until I got to the Head of Schooling. This person rubbed me the wrong way in every way, some of which might be personal preference so I won't go into details, except for one thing he said when I mentioned work-life balance being very important to me. I thought this would be good to bring up and gauge the response since so many of the reviews here mentioned that work-life balance at SA is very poor. He said, quote, "I don't really believe in work-life balance" and that he would check/respond to messages and issues at all hours in spite of having two toddlers at home. Obviously a high level role like that would require some off-hours work but I thought it was pretty revealing to say you don't believe in work-life balance when interviewing someone for a job. I didn't have a great attitude when speaking with this person because I was souring on the opportunity by that point, and this is probably why I ultimately did not get an offer.
