Recruiter called me multiple times to schedule/confirm the interview. I thought they care too much about candidates.
I went to their office on time. They just gave a paper and asked me to code a UI question(build a carousel with search using some framework) for 2 hours. I was able to complete it partially cause it was a complex one. Only little bit of styling was left.
They took another round after two hours which was javascript based. The interviewer kept on asking me why I didnt complete the test. I told him it was complex one and i thought the functionality was done and only styling was left. I think he didnt read the UI question himself cause he asked me why did you use React to build it. I said that its clearly mentioned in the question paper to use a framework. He was full of attitude. His knowledge was limited but attitude wasnt.
Then his questions were:
1) Implement back functionality in a text input when there are emojis(utf chars) in it. I said its simple and told him my solution. He said its wrong and kept on arguing that its wrong. He didnt have clarity on javascript data structures at all. Then I showed him that its working and he nodded.
2) He asked me to implement `Array.sort` javascript polyfill. I explained him that we do it using merge sort and pass a comparator to merge function. He was confused again and looked dissatisfied.
3) He then told me my code is wrong. I asked him why. He said he will tell it later but he didnt.
Then there was a algo round which I was able to complete but they werent optimized.
After that round i was told that they are not going to move forward.
I was there at their office from 10 AM - 3 PM. Not even a single person offered me something to drink(not even water)/eat. I thought it was basic courtesy. This is how much they care about their prospective employees. Its one of the worst interview experiences i ever had.
