      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Swissbank in Apr 2022

      Interview

Confusing and highly unprofessional , they called the recruiters one day before the interview to mention the ONLY available slot would be , in essence, the next day 9:00 AM sharp . Now here is where the fun starts : the position was for Switzerland , so naturally one would think that 9:00 AM would be CET . I get up around 7 AM to get ready at 8 AM since I live in GMT, connect the meeting, wait there for 10 mins, nobody joined. Informed the recruiter, then they had informed me that they had no feedback from that line manager but apparently the one interviewing for this position was based on the east coast US , therefore interview would most likely 9:00 AM EST. Several hours pass , I connect with the panel. Line manager went on a rant for about 10 mins what it is they do and what they need, I wanted to ask a question , he highly oposses for the questions to be asked at the end. Strange but ok. Vibe was very 'script' looked like he's reading stuff of a billboard. Techie guy comes in some 15 mins later after interview had started. His vibe was more friendly and approachable. Very few technical questions asked, I had to go extensively into detail and breaking down into scenarios their questions here as their questions were very broad and open with multiple posibillities. They focused at one point towards a particular network analysis program which I haven't used but understood how it works, variables used and what it is used for. Ever since this question I felt as if the interview was over as they kind wanted to wrap up after this, even though it was just minute 30 . At this point I started asking questions myself . There was one particular requirement on the job description regarding multicast and anycast. These technologies are predominantly used within CDNs ; also the recruiter informed me they are actually looking for someone with CDN knowledge. At this point though, there have been no CDN / layer 7 related questions so I reverse the plot by asking : "So , since you put anycast / multicast on the job description , I don't envision you would necessirally use a CDN however - since you are within the finance sector - I believe this would be rather used for real time stock market / crypto trading data ? Do you have such an app ? " It looked like I stunned them by saying this. Line manager was morbidly quiet , tech guy visibly disturbed; tech guy replies: "Yeah .. I ... I'm not comfortable answering this question ... " Me: " I'm only asking because I saw mentions of these technologies on the requirements sheet, however you have only asked about layer 3-4 networking so far ? " Tech: " ...Yeah I don't really know what they put on the job openings " Wow . Such professionalism. We carry on the interview with few more questions in my attempt to professionally realign. Broad, generic answers were provided; eventually we decide to end the cringe 10 minutes earlier than the scheduled interview duration. 1 month passes, eventually I hear from the recruiter they decided to go with some other candidate( i was the first out of aprox. 11). I asked for feedback, recruiter answers by saying that that particular line manager never gives feedback but she will try to obtain it . Oh and one last thing : giving it was a swiss bank interview for which I had to come to the office, I dressed formally with a shirt , tie and freshly shaved. The interviewers not only were late / vague on the timezone of the meeting but also came casually dressed
