TALA ( United Kingdom) interview questions

Only apply if you’re looking to wait weeks and weeks between stages with a high chance of being ghosted in the end. I have been a fan/follower of TALA since its inception, so I was very excited at the possibility of working here. I applied for their Midnight Graphic Designer role, the first stage of the application was a video call which took place over 3 weeks after I initially applied, after the video call it took another 2 weeks to receive the task. The task was not only not appropriate for the role I was applying for, but was also not appropriate amount of work to expect someone to do for free. For example, they asked me to conceptualise a campaign idea for an ‘upcoming collection’ in which I had to create: A visual moodboard, explain the hook and idea, and design a set of assets which show how it rolls out cross-channel (paid social ads, homepage, emails etc. On top of this I also had to provide 10 images of things that inspire & influence me. Yes, creating the assets is the job of the Graphic Designer, but conceptualising a campaign is the job of a creative director, a much higher pay grade and different set of skills. What they did not consider is how a graphic designer could create graphics for an ORIGINAL campaign idea without having the photographs & copy. So when doing the task I quickly realised that I’d have to bring my own idea to life, which meant creating Ai visuals to get my ideas across. This ended up being a whole weekends worth of work + some. After I sent the task back, I didn’t receive a reply for at least another 10 working days which left me feeling anxious and worried that I’d done all this work for nothing. I eventually got confirmation of receipt of the task, and was invited for an in person interview at their office, which was obviously during my own workday. I was chatting to the senior graphic designer and creative director for 1 hour and 40 mins. They were lovely and the actual interview itself was encouraging, and I left feeling positive. I never heard from them again, I followed up twice, once a week after, and again about 2.5 weeks after the in person interview. This was very disappointing and frustrating for me, and honestly not just unprofessional but honestly just outright rude. I have never in my life been ghosted by a company before. Not sure if they ever hired anyone, and they’ve just posted a new role on LinkedIn which asks that as a potential ‘Senior Graphic Designer’ you have at least 5+ years of Art Direction experience. I had two virtual interviews- one with a manager and one with the manager and a senior person. I had to present a task in the second interview. I was asked a lot about prior experience and what I would do quickly if I joined.
