      Interview

Found them on Glassdoor and emailed over a CV. About 4 days later got a phone call which involved a quick informal chat about the role and myself, the person I spoke to seemed very understanding of the fact that I hadn't prepared for this and as a result hadn't yet done much research on the role. I was invited to attend an in person interview, and they covered my travel expenses in cash on the spot. I was interviewed by two members of the team I was applying to, who were both very friendly and casual. They asked me a pretty simple logic puzzle, and I went through my working out on the white board. They then asked me a few standard interview questions about why I thought I'd be right for the role etc. They said it wasn't important that I din't have a car, as long as I got one within a year, and that I'd be expected to live within about 5 miles of the office (around Headingley, for example). After the interview they sent me back to the waiting room and about 5 minutes later someone different came and told me I'd hear back soon, I assume they were deciding whether to give me a second interview straight away or not.

      Interview

The Interview was quite bizzare because they have a flat hierarchy system meaning theirs no one senior involved. The Interview itself was weird, I was interviewed by 2 people and they asked me simple questions as to why I applied for this position and what I think the company does. But, then they started to ask me questions about my hobbies and go much more in depth in my private life rather than my skills and experience. Felt like to me they were trying to hire someone they can become friends with and hang out rather than their professional qualifications. Diversity was another issue I notice walking on the floor, couldn't see any non-white faces definitely felt uncomfortable and again reinstated that 'friends first' factor. There was a 2nd stage to the interview but they refused to call me and they made a terrible excuse up, which is where I pretty much knew I wasn't getting the job. I should have read the reviews first because majority of the reviews I've read pretty much sums up how bad the interview process is for the company.
