Well i never thought i would be writing a review for any job interview or company. But i wanted to share my experience in this particular one. One fine evening while i was driving back from work , i got a call from Tesla HR for a position which is similar to my profile. I was working on the same profile that my resume was picked for 3 years and also i was working for a leading automotive company. Tesla being a start up company i was exited and like many other young engineers i wanted to be a part of hopeful future. I was also following Tesla on its every move by then. The phone call with HR was short and since my profile suited best for the position, he did not have too many questions for me. I also expressed my excitement regarding Tesla.At the end of our conversation he said that Hiring manager will call me in 5 days for a phone interview.Also he would send me a mail with interview details. 3 days passed by i did not receive any mail nor he called me back.I did not had his number to reach him.Finally he called me on 4th day and said Hiring manager wants to call me up that evening and if i was OK. I said i am OK for taking the call. Hiring manager called me up and he went over my resume and it was pretty straight forward like any other interview and in the end he said that he would like to have me for a face to face. i was super excited after that and started dreaming about being a part of Tesla and relocating to bay area. Next day , i got call from HR and he said that hiring manger was impressed with my skills and the team would like to meet me in their Fremont facility.I did ask HR about the salary since it was California i was expecting at least 20% more than what i was making in mid west. HR did not had any salary figure with him. He said the best they can do is match the salary that i was making in mid west and said to me to think over and he would call me back next day. HR called me back next day and said they can give me a 10% hike of what i was making in mid west . I thought to myself that more than salary , Tesla would be a place of passion.So i thought of sacrificing Salary and convinced my wife that i would do miracles at Tesla . So, finally decided to take whatever they give and show up for face to face. Face to face was confirmed in a week . They flew me to their Fremont facility and interview was with 6 folks working in Fremont facility. 3 from the same department that the position was and 2 from a different department.6th person did not show up. Interview was very casual and no tough technical questions as such. Tesla is still a start up company and does not have strong production systems as any leading automotive. They are just boxing the car and selling it to rich & anxious people who can afford those. From production stand point they want to create difference and want to create a google kind of workplace.Tesla is automotive manufacture and to produce anything you got to have process and standards. Google is innovation. There is a huge difference. Anyways after the interview i thought i got the job and i would make a difference to company. Unfortunately the sad part was after the interview no one contacted me back from the company. I tried reaching the HR so many times. He neither replied nor responded to my emails.They did not filled that position till now. At least he should have had a courtesy of sending an email saying that i was not selected. Well everything happens for a good reason, I am glad now that i was not selected.now i got a job even better it was kind of a promotion and i got a 30% hike and that to in mid west. Tesla was the only interview till now that i did not get any reply.I hope my experience with Tesla would help future job seekers @ Tesla.
