Semiconductor Fab Engineering Summer Intern Interview

      4 Oct 2012
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through university. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Texas Instruments in Sept 2012

      Interview

      1) I went to the Engineering EXPO, hosted by our University, and talked to Texas Instruments. After talking to the recruiter about my resume, leadership positions and all the TI events I had gone to in previous years I got an interview set up for the next day. 2) At the interview, the recruiter asked me various behavioral/situational questions and asked me to explain what my interests in Electrical & Computer Engineering. After explaining my interests, we went down my resume and talked about the various organizations I was a part of (i.e. Band, Mentor, Recruiting Officer, Fraternity) and explained what my roles in each organizations were. Right before we finished the interview, she told me to go to TI Careers and apply to the internship positions I was interested in and told me I would get a call back from an HR representative within the week. 3) The next day, I got a call from the HR Representative and asked me how my interview was the day before. I told her the interview was great and once again, went down my resume. After that, she asked me what my interests were and after explaining it all, she suggested I would be a good fit for the Semiconductor Fab Engineering Intern. We set up another telephone interview with a panel of 2 current TI employees where I had 3 days to prepare. 4) Once I entered the conference call, both interviewers greeted me and introduced themselves and told me what roles they had at TI. They started off by asking me stuff about my resume and asked me what I thought my best trait was. After explaining that leadership was my best trait, they asked me a couple of situational questions about my leadership and threw a couple of curve balls to see how I would react. After that, they asked me to explain what a transistor was and how it was made. At the end of the interview they allowed me to ask questions and told me they would keep in touch with me within a week. 5) 2 days later, I got a call from the same HR representative congratulating me on the position and asked me to fill out some paperwork.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

If a friend of yours at work was about to do an unethical action, what would you do? If there were two leaders in the same group, and you were one of them, how would you react in that situation? If there was a teammate in your group that wasn't doing their work, how would you react in that situation? What is a transistor and explain how it's made?
