I applied online. I interviewed at Timber Ridge Pediatric Therapy (Skokie, IL) in Oct 2021
Interview
I was interviewed by the owner of the practice and then asked to come in for a mock treatment. The interview process could only be described as unnecessarily stressful. I was drilled and asked technical questions, which I passed with flying colors and asked to provide a reference I was not comfortable providing without knowing If I would receive the job. I offered multiple other references but the owner is extremely pushy and would not accept no for an answer. She told me I was a high candidate on her list, I was pressured to make a decision and led on to believe I would receive the job. After finally talking to my current employer and providing her as a reference the owner told me I did not get the job. She didn’t even call me but wrote it in an email after basically giving me false hope the entire week. Don’t waste your time. The owner is pushy and created a very uncomfortable situation for me. There’s a reason for the high turnover rate.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
The interview itself was ok but the mock treatment was very stressful. I had at least 5 therapists watch me while I delivered a 20 min treatment. I hit on all the child’s goals and did a physical warmup followed by a creative writing activity. The child was super into it but I was later told my treatment wasn’t playful enough. Creative writing is the most evidence based treatment for handwriting goals.
