      Application

I applied through other source. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Twitch (San Francisco, CA) in Dec 2018

      Interview

The interview process didn't take long. I was contacted by the hiring manager for a quick chat and at the end of the chat he wanted to see where I'm at with the programming (using python). He gave me an assignment to complete in a week. I can't deny it was a nice way of testing in a fun learning experience and I completed as requested but took considerable amount of time to learn and research. Then an interview was scheduled with a team member for tech screening. It was generic and not very technical. After that I was invited on site for 4 interviews. The HR were very nice , took me for a tour to show me around their facilities. After that I had 4 interviews, first interview was ok, mostly technical routing protocols and basics. The second interviewer was really bad. He was asking process questions but could hardly explain what he needs.Arrogant, has a hard accent, asking questions from his laptop and not explaining enough. I felt he was struggling with what he needs and not prepared. He told me at the end I gave too much details that he doesn't need. When I told him probably because I'm more detail oriented he told me no you're not :D . Third meeting was with the hiring manager who took me for lunch in their cafeteria. He appeared to be not talkative or social and felt he's not interested or motivated. Then after lunch we had an interview and it was a lot of behavioral questions, that was a kind of warning sign to me specially the questions were more like situations you had issues/conflicts/failures with colleagues or managers. I was expecting more of a technical interview with the manager . After that I had a meeting with the department manager which was actually more interesting and personable than the rest. Overall , I came out of these meetings with mixed feelings but overall a not positive experience on site. I think that the culture and people in twitch are not aligned and struggling. The amount of behavioral questions was a warning sign to me about the organization and people culture. The staff need to be more welcoming to visitors since those visitors are putting a lot of effort taking PTO, getting out of their way to get on site on time, find a parking in the most crowded place in SF, prepare and solve tasks.
