Initial recruiter video call for about 20-30 minutes, then an excel based assignment to be completed in 3-4 days followed by a final interview with the manager and senior member of the team that lasted around 30 minutes each.
Initial recruiter asked standard questions, seemed mildly interested and did not seem particularly excited about the role, company or candidate.
The assignment was given shortly after, as a test of excel skills for some intermediate functions (vlookup, match) and analysis of sales and supplier data related to payments. Standard difficulty, data given was patchy and inconsistent which was probably part of the test.
Recruiter initially said that this would be followed with 2 separate interviews with the manager and senior team members, but during the interview it was squeezed into 2 30-min video calls. The manager seemed busy and distracted and was looking away from the screen a lot of the times, but asked pretty good/tough short consulting style questions and gave feedback on assignment with no questions asked about it. This was handed over to the senior member of the team after who did not seem very engaged, asked whether I was skilled in excel when assignment was all submitted in excel...overall the interviews sounded disjointed and rushed.
Received offer but was rescinded when asked to have a laptop shipped abroad due to family issues and though the position was fully remote, they did not allow remote working outside of Canada. None of these stipulations were explained prior to the offer being made and the recruiter was curt and uncooperative in making alternative arrangements to make the job offer work, instead choosing to rescind immediately. No room for salary negotiation- mentioned upfront. A few weeks later, received news from another recruiter reinstating the offer...once mentioned that I have left the country temporarily as mentioned before, offer was rescinded again without any room for negotiation or offer of accommodation.
Overall, terrible experience, unprofessional recruiters, messy company and overstretched employees who do not particularly care about the candidate. Inflexible, inconsiderate handling of offer and very unprofessional conduct overall.
