      Flight Attendant Interview

      17 Mar 2013
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Houston, TX
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at United Airlines (Houston, TX) in Mar 2013

      Interview

Arrived at the inflight Training Center at 8:00 am and there were about 50 people already there. We signed in, got an information sheet and the session began at 9:00. They showed a short movie about United and then started calling people for the interviews. The first interviewer I had was a man, very nice and made me feel very comfortable. I had to read a PA announcement. He then asked questions like - tell me about a time when you had to work with a group to get a project completed and a member wasn't pulling their weight. What did you do to resolve it? A couple other questions like that also asked about being on reserve, why I wanted to be a flight attendant. He handed me a piece of paper told me to go to lunch and report back at 12:45 and be discreet. Met up with some other applicants for lunch and headed back. Now the group was down to about 25 people. The 2nd interviewer was tough, not very friendly and was almost argumentative with some of my answers. She asked things like tell me about a time when quality of work had to be sacrificed to meet a deadline. Why did I want to be a flight attendant?, how I handled a customer request when it wasn't a convenient time - what did I do and how did the customer respond. I didn't think I was going to make it past her but she then put me in another room and told me I was going to meet with management. There was about 12 of us left and there was about an hour and a half between the 2nd and 3rd interview. When I went in for the 3rd there was 2 gentlemen - they asked me if I knew what the responsibilities of being a flight attendant were, what it meant being on reserve and relocating and why I chose United over JetBlue. I answered all of their questions and they didn't even pause for a few seconds after and just said thanks for coming in and we'll let you know. I knew right then that I wasn't going to get it after reading all the reviews on glass door and knowing that if they wanted you they would invite you to training on the spot. I believe they knew they weren't going to ask me to training before the 3rd interview so why waste my time. Not sure what they were looking for. I answered all of the questions some are tricky to come up with past situations on the spot and some I hadn't experienced.

      Interview

the face to face live video interview with a HR personnel. I collected all possible questions from reddit to glassdoor and formulate my answers and thought they're going to ask the same questions but they didn't. The HR kind of tell that I have a ready made answers so she stirred the interview differently so my answer will be organic. Thankfully I passed this 30 minute interview. The interviewer did not look interested because she is multi-tasking but best believe she is listening to your answers.

      Interview

I’m heading to the F2F interview in TX. Every step so far has not been difficult for me. I also have no prior knowledge in being a FA. The hardest part so far is probably just the nerves and anxiety. Just prep well, do some research, have some basic questions and answer prepared so that even if they ask a different question you can possibly use one of the scenarios of another question and tailor it to the new one.
