This has to be the quickest interview process I ever experienced: Applied online- May 7, 2015 Received email invitation to do video interview- May 8, 2015 I completed my video interview- May 11,2015 (you are allowed five days to do it) Received email from United inviting me to attend one of their Interview Session- May 13, 2015 Interview Session- Thursday, May 21, 2015 9:00am -(Newark,NJ) Status- **Received email May 24, 2015- Didn't get the job. United provided the flight both to and from Newark NJ for their interview sessions, on the email invite it will list several days to choose from, and you have to call the Inflight Services to schedule the date so they can book your flight. I called the first time and immediately was able to get through, unlike some other applicants who stated they were calling for days. I have to say United is so on top of their game, I immediately received emails with my travel itinerary and was able to choose my seats as well, again everything was very quick. I made sure the hotel I choose had free shuttle service to the airport as well as free breakfast since I knew I was getting up early to be at the airport for the Interview Session the next day. I arrived at the airport around 7:15am, I had plenty of time to go get my gate pass, and go through security before arriving at the meeting point. The interview session began at 9am, and by the time the Flight Attendant came to get us, there was a total of about 25 people, not a big crowd like I was expecting. We were shuttled to another part of the airport and were able to put our luggage away in closets and then were taken to another room in which there were additional flight attendants there. Everyone was so friendly and smiling and laughing, and all the Flight Attendants had this "glow' to them and it was obvious they absolutely loved their jobs! Once in the room the Flight Attendant showed us a brief presentation about United Airlines,and gave us an information sheet about United, the training is UNPAID and last 5 weeks and is held in Houston Texas,first uniforms costs you $720.00 which you can have payroll deducted, also she said if chosen for training you are required to pay a $100 deposit to hold your spot but that will also go towards your uniform costs. The pay for the first year is at $20.49, second year $23.93 and you are guaranteed 83 flight hours a month minimum, also you get a per diem expense reimbursement of $1.95-$2.50 per hour for all trips, and you also are required to pay "Union dues" as well, not sure how much that is she didn't say. Then she had a quick question and answer session, also letting us know you will be on Reserve for years and years,and afterwards they called names to start the face to face interviews. My interview was very long and I was asked many questions most of which are already on glassdoor, pretty much the same questions just keep in mind to have great examples of every answer as they are the STAR scenarios. Once my interview was over I was asked if I had time to stay because they had just some additional questions for me, so of course I said Yes! At that point the Flight Attendant took me to another room and it was just myself there and another person, apparently this was for those chosen to do a second interview that same day. After waiting a while about four others joined us in the room, and one by one we were called to go to another room for a second interview with different people this time. My second interview was conducted by two different people, one has been a Flight Attendant for over 32 years, the other was in Management I believe. The questions in this phase were more like; "How will it affect you and your family when you have to work Christmas Day"?, or How would you feel waking up and looking out your window and seeing the San Francisco Bay Bridge? Also questions like do you have any visible tattoos? The questions were more personal less situational, and less stressful. Both of them also went into great detail regarding how rewarding being a Flight Attendant has been, but also how it can be pretty tough and stressful the first year with just getting adjusted to this new life and being on reserve status.At the end they asked if I had any questions for them which I did ask, and then they said they were going to step outside the room a few minutes to talk and be right back. Once they came back I was told I would be getting an email within 5-7 days regarding the status of the position. Updated- Received email 5/24/15- Didn't get the job. I did hear from other candidates that one guy was hired there on the spot that same day after he finished his second interview.
