I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Upperstudy in Oct 2022
Interview
This is by far the sketchiest interview process I've ever participated in. There's barely any information available online for this "program" for a reason. I applied and was finally contacted months later after I'd already forgotten about it. The person who reached out didn't even suggest a phone screen and went straight to asking if I'd do a take-home assignment. Truly bizarre, I should've trusted my gut and declined. I insisted on a phone screen first so that I could ask questions. The entire process was so unprofessional. The design assignment could easily have taken double or triple the amount of time they said I should expect to spend on it, and they require you complete it within 48 hours. I told a few designer friends about it and they all agreed it sounded exploitative. As far as I know they didn't look at my resume or portfolio and only relied on their weird take-home assignment that I did in a rush since I have a day job and other responsibilities. I asked for feedback and was ghosted after all the unpaid hours I put in. Probably the most inequitable hiring practices I've ever experienced. The pay is also ridiculously low, around 50K. Designers, even young ones, don't settle for this. What a phenomenal waste of my time.

Question 1
I don't remember any questions they asked, they were all really basic and what an inexperienced interviewer would rely on.
