Bizarre interview process...
After submitting my application, Vanguard scheduled a telephone interview with me. The questions were very basic, they asked why I wanted to work at Vanguard and a few routine questions about experience. It lasted roughly 30 minutes, and at the conclusion they told me someone would reach out to schedule an in person interview. Two weeks later, someone called to schedule that interview for ANOTHER two weeks out.
The morning of the interview, I received a phone call saying that they had already hired someone else and forgot to call and tell me sooner. They apologized profusely.
Oddly enough, I got another call a few days later saying they wanted to interview me for a different position. They scheduled another phone interview.
The phone interviewer began by collecting basic demographic information from me. I politely asked, "Was this information not retained from the previous interview?" The interviewer stated that to their knowledge, I had never been interviewed in the past and that there was no file on me.
At the conclusion of the interview they said they wanted to schedule an in person interview. But lo and behold, I one ever called. I called Vanguard a week later to set something up. They told me the recruiter I spoke to was now on maternity leave and there was (again) no file created for me. They advised that if I was interested in working for Vanguard, I should apply online.
That was the end of the communication from them. I never got so much as a form email stating that I was no longer being considered for any of the positions for which I applied.
