I was an internal referral and applied to Verily Life Sciences (South San Francisco, CA) . The recruiter got back to me within a few days to set up a virtual interview. The interview lasted about 45 minutes. I received a decision via email the same day as my interview.
I have no complaints about how the company handled the interview process. The company was responsive, prompt, and eager to help. The recruiters checked-in and made themselves available to ensure the process was as seamless as possible.
My issue was with my interviewer. My interviewer forgot to introduce himself. I had to ask him for his name and he only provided an official introduction about 10 minutes later, after the first two interview questions were asked. I'm not sure if it's because I look very young but he spoke to me in a very condescending tone for the entirety of the interview. He would include phrases like "you must not have understood me", or "you clearly missed this point".
In the end, I asked a very standard question about the company culture and he had nothing but negative things to say. The interviewer stated that employees are overworked to the point where they break, and that management does not show appreciation to their employees. Yikes.
I was very impressed with the company itself and still am, however I don't know if I'd ever want to work here if their employees display such poor attitude and commentary.
