A recruiter contacted me in late March and he was very flexible to arrange an initial interview for the first week of April due to me being on a holiday trip.
After the call with the recruiter, within the same week I was informed that I could schedule the next call with one of the co-founders. I really liked that I did not have to wait long before going into the next step of the interview process.
I enjoyed the call with the co-founder, it was a non-technical interview and we mostly talked about our previous working experiences and why I am interested in the role. It was a good conversation, I really felt I was given the chance to explain my technical and personal background, and I also started to have a good feel about Zealy's company culture from this call.
After having the call with the co-founder, right on the same day within an hour I was given the coding challenge, I again appreciated how fast they were moving with the interview process. I can also say I had a positive experience with this coding challenge, I was given the choice to use the tools of my preference which made solving the challenge really enjoyable. I also liked the fact that the challenge was timed, having a time constraint allowed me to prioritize what I should focus on with the time available.
Once I had submitted the coding challenge, I received feedback right on the next day, yet another sign of how quick they try to communicate during the interview process, which I continued to greatly appreciate.
I was then invited to schedule another call with a different co-founder to do a live coding session. I appreciated how straightforward the challenge was during this session, there were no abstract problems to solve, so I liked that it was focused on real-world situations, plus it gave me a sneak peek into the kind of technical challenges that Zealy needs to deal with.
After positive feedback on the live coding session, I was then later invited to have a call with the CEO, mostly to have a chat about how I think my previous managers at previous jobs would describe what it is like to work with me. I enjoyed talking about my two previous jobs and my managers, I think that would have been already a good point to end the interview, however I was also asked about my experience beyond my last two jobs which my memory is already a bit blurry about, but no big deal. Overall it was yet another great call which gave me more insights into what it would be like to work at Zealy.
The last phase of the interview process was about doing some calls with my references, I think this last step extended the interview process a bit more than it should have to, but it's understandable that they would like to get input from different people.
Lastly, after all the reference calls I was given an offer which I accepted. :)
In summary, I would say that Zealy has a very well structured interview process which moves super quick at the start, might get a bit lengthy right at the end, but overall a positive experience!
