Applied for the job online and had a reasonably informal chat around the role, past experience etc. The person conducting the call was very polite and professional, however not from a technical background. i was asked several technical questions that were hard to answer with no ability to clarify the question.
Take for example I was asked what sounded like"what are the benefits of using microservices in containers?" I was unable after multiple attempts to clarify if the question was microservices & containers as the 2 are obviously quite different things. Additionally I was asked what I would do if a server was found to be compromised. Again not able to clarify the context, a type of server or a variety of important factors. I felt this process was frustrating and disrespectful.
I felt for the person from iZettle on the call as she was tasked with simply writing down my answers, however It was enough for me to discount working there all together.
Additionally the pay scale is not competitive and one of the lowest I've heard of in Edinburgh. Nearly £10-£15k less than other offers available in the city.
