What you will learn:
- You will gain hands-on experience across real construction sites, learning the full range of bricklaying skills needed to become a competent tradesperson
- You’ll work alongside skilled bricklayers learning tasks such as blockwork, cavity walls, foundations, pointing, setting out, and interpreting drawings.
This apprenticeship is ideal for someone who enjoys practical work, being outdoors, and building structures that will last for decades.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with building and repairing walls, foundations, drainage, partitions, and other brick/block/stone structures
- Learn to read and interpret drawings, plans, and site instructions
- Mix mortar, handle materials, and maintain a clean, safe working area
- Support the team with setting out, measuring, and preparing work areas
- Follow all health & safety procedures on site
- Work collaboratively with the bricklaying team to deliver high-quality workmanship
- Develop skills in brick & blockwork, cavity wall construction, pointing, jointing, and finishing techniques

Working Week: 40 hours per week on a rota – 5 days per week from Monday to Sunday with one day at college in Crawley
Salary: £16,640 per annum in line with the Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage (please see further information below)
Qualifications: GCSE Math and English minimum grade 2 required.

What you need to know:
- This apprenticeship is for 2 years and 3 months apprenticeship including end point assessment.
- You MUST BE free from full time education to be eligible to apply for an apprenticeship.
- You MUST BE resident in the UK for a minimum of 3 years prior to the start of learning and have work authorisation for the UK.
- You MUST BE resident in the area local to the apprenticeship opportunity or be prepared to relocate in time to start employment and study.
- You MUST BE committed to completing the full apprenticeship
- Transport will be essential to travel to sites reliably
- Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage applies so starting salary will depend on apprentice age in the first instance.
- Job role will start on successful recruitment although the apprenticeship learning will start in October 2026.
Further Information: Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage (ANMW): The National Minimum Wage for Apprentices is £8.00 per hour (As of the 1st April 2025). This is the legal minimum pay per hour applying to 16- to 18-year-old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their apprenticeship. For apprentices 19 or over who have completed their first year and are continuing their apprenticeship, the National Minimum Wage appropriate to their ages applies.
